Firstly – I loved the fact everything today was happening within the historic venue that is Parr St . A great studio – still operating but now partially a hotel , who had boasted Diana Ross, Barry Manilow, Coldplay and loads of other folks amongst their most famous recording artists.  The style of the hotel part,  reminded me of two different places in Holland – and actually more than a little of that famous sense of humour (in a great way). Wonderful to finally meet Geni and John from  Touch Productions , who have worked so hard to put on this night for three years now. The workshop/presentation is now taking an interesting shape. It was great to hear that everyone (who introduced themselves) – played or sang, and also that there was a good spread of jazz and classical interest. Made sure there was thus an equal spread of video examples. Enquiring if anyone had heard any lh only piano music – it was cool to be told about a name new to me – Joao Paulo Martinez (the great Argentinian pianist – rated only behind Glenn Gould as a Bach interpreter during the era). There are definitely a small core of questions that are starting to emerge (from the q and a section) but also a good proportion of variance. Thanks again to all who attended.
It was a lovely turnout for the show, and I think uniquely for this tour – with the trio from Parr St  – i did a mix of the lh only tunes and some standards. Great to meet some students from Lipa – who are of course looking forward to their final year when they get to meet Paul McCartney as part of their songwriting course ! Also great to see Neil Campbell earlier (from the Capstone Theatre and Liverpool Jazz Fest) – for the first time since recording the album at the theatre. Thanks also to pianist Barry Dallman, and Stephen Pilditch (George4 indeed!), and all the album buyers. Thanks also  to Dawsons Music  who provided a great Roland electric piano. Back in March at the LIJF !

Busiest day next in Cardiff and Pontypool…
